Reflection

This research response was a cool process to further dive into how boredom can affect us. I believe all of the collaborative writing practices helped, except the reverse outlining. Yes, it may have helped to dive into our original article assigned, but towards the end it was just writing what the author did. To which, later our response wasn’t anything like the original article. Having to dive deep within our research , but from those around us was the funnest part. I found it funny when I was sharing my group’s form to literally everyone and they were like “huh”. Some understood the form and claimed this was interesting to observe. This is where my group and I
realized that everyone has some sort of addiction to their cellular device. Some of the older folks said that they pray first thing in the morning. So what became a 100% quickly released around 75% of those who don’t just go on their phone first thing in the morning. The distribution part was me trying to gather people I KNOW.
We needed 50 responses in total and when I saw our form it barely had any responses. I wish my group was high -alert on the responses. This is not to say I wasn’t a part of a good group, because I was. These girls helped a tremendous amount and what seemed like a lengthy project was done faster than I thought. Also, the article that my group and I used , found by my groupmate Yiting, was perfect. I’m so happy I had a group member because finding an article was easy-peasy. As for the understanding of exigence. Exigence is the moment that brings a
writer to write about the topic of their choice. Understanding exigence shaped both the articles because both articles go in depth. The first article related to a more social aspect.

This article showed how Tik Tok affects our daily lives. To which, some people decided to make it a social experiment of doing absolutely nothing. Then the group my article used contrasted within that argument ,as well. This article went into all the details we are self-aware of ,but don’t take seriously. An addiction to our phone when bored , just means an increase to being a failure. This addiction can cause A.D.H.D. This addiction can cause obesity ,since being on your phone means not getting up at all. This article mentions another valid point. This being how this addiction affects our literacy. Studies show how our phones are affecting adolescence. This exact reason is what led to my exigence. I felt pulled to write this article because even around me everyone is addicted to their phones. A prime example (my exigence) mentioned in my article was my baby sister. My baby sister is only a year old, yet Ms. Rachel and Elmo are on constant repeat. Which I find fascinating because anytime my sister watches a video from either, you would swear she has never seen this episode before!
